Antioch

I spent twelve hours in a truck yesterday driving to and from Antioch, Illinois.

My brother, father, and I left Bay City at 6:30 in the morning. I immediately kicked off my shoes and stretched out as much as possible in the back seat of the truck. I was too lazy to move a whole bunch of flannel shirts that were mysteriously on the right side of the seat, so I just put my pillow on the pile and propped my feet against the window. If the pile wasn't there, I probably would've been able to lie completely flat.

Three hours passed while I slept. Then I slept for another hour, and then we got breakfast from a McDonald's. I had pancakes. After that we continued on. Eventually we got to Chicago, where we faced traffic problems. We were in heavily backed-up lane, so we pulled into one that was curiously empty. We drove a little ways and then passed a sign that said "Stay in your lane." Then we saw another sign that said we needed an iPass or something to stay in the lane. We didn't have one, so what were we supposed to do? The only option was to cut into the other lane. Everytime someone honked at us as we made our way (the line was moving slowly), my dad would yell something profane. Then, someone passed us without honking, and my said "Thank you!" It was really funny.

By the way, that was my third trip to Chicago. It was the second time I went there for something and the first that I passed right through it. That's right, I finally went west of Chicago. All the way to Antioch, which wasn't very far.

We were too early to go where we were going, so we got ice cream at McDonald's. That was basically lunch. Afterwards we went and picked up half a motorcycle, which was the whole point of the trip. Then, just for the hell of it, we went two miles north to visit Winconsin. That's one more state I can add to my list of visited states.

Along the way home, we almost stopped at McDonald's for dinner. Instead we went to Burger King, where we had to wait five minutes because they were moving slowly. An hour later I arrived home, and soon after I went to another Halo party.

Fin.

I was also very close to New York. I could see it right across the Niagara river.
